CTN Spotlight on ... Alice!
CTNX: Hello Alice, it's a pleasure to speak with you! Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
AH: I was born in Beijing, and came to America when I was 8.
CTNX: When and how did your relationship with CTN begin?
AH: I heard about CTN while I was attending USC. A few friends of mine volunteered for USC's booth, and told me it was a really great event, so I've volunteered every year since 2012.
CTNX: What have your positions been with CTNX and what have you learned most from your experience working with CTN?
AH: I've mostly been working in the CTN store, at registration, or as a runner. Sometimes I've been on door duty and sometimes I filled in as a booth buddy, and a few times I accompanied a guest while they were doing a signing. I think my experiences as booth buddy were definitely the most rewarding, but I've also managed to sneak a few crits from pros during the signings.
CTNX: What are your ultimate career goals?
AH: I want to be a prolific and respected figure in the animation industry. I want to work on movies that I love and make films that people will remember.
CTNX: How does working with CTN help you meet those goals?
AH: I've been able to meet plenty of people who have already gotten to where I want to be, and it's such an inspiration to see them.
CTNX: What have you learned most from your experience working with CTN?
AH: I learned the most from the exhibitors I've befriended over the last few years. I've managed to keep in touch with a few of them between expos and meet up with them for coffee to learn more from them. It's really wonderful to just talk to my heroes, find out how they got to where they are, and figure out what I can do to get to where I want to be.
CTNX: What do you look forward to most in the coming years regarding your career?
AH: I'm starting at Art Center in the fall in Animation, because I feel there are still a lot I need to learn to be a professional in the industry.
CTNX: It was a pleasure to talk with you Alice!
