CTN Spotlight on... Adina!
CTNX: Hi Adina, it's great to speak with you! Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
AOVdB: My name is Adina Orly Voss de Bettancourt. I was born in San Francisco, CA, and I moved down to Fullerton after high school to study animation at California State University, Fullerton. Post graduation, I am now living and working in the Los Angeles area.
CTNX: When and how did your relationship with CTN begin?
AOVdB: I first learned about CTN in my third year of college. The animation club I was in talked about it as a very important event for animation and aspiring animators, and mentioned that you could sign up to be a volunteer. A couple years later, I decided to try to go, and I have been attending ever since.
CTNX: What have your positions been with CTNX and what have you learned most from your experience with CTN?
AOVdB: My first year I was at the Conversations with Creators and portfolio review area. My second year I was at the book signing booths. Both these positions helped me learn a lot about how to keep things on schedule and how to react to unexpected changes, from sudden rain to schedule changes, with grace.
CTNX: What are your ultimate career goals?
AOVdB: My ultimate career goals are to have a steady art job in the animation industry, and maybe ultimately to have the chance to be a show runner.
CTNX: How does CTN help you meet those goals?
AOVdB: CTN helps with building a bit of work experience, which helps with job acquisition. More importantly, it also allows me to meet people in the animation industry I wouldn't otherwise have any contact with and gives me the chance to learn from and build meaningful relationships with those people.
CTNX: What have you learned most from your experience with CTN?
AOVdB: I have learned a lot about networking and about all the work and the different people involved in making conventions run smoothly. I also have learned various pieces of information about art and the animation industry from all the different artists I have met at CTN.
CTNX: What do you look forward to most in the coming years regarding your career?
AOVdB: Regarding my career, while I look forward to working with all the awesome people I have met and will meet in the industry, and I look forward to being able to bring various worlds and people to life through my work, the thing that I most look forward to is having the chance to make a living doing what I love.
CTNX: Is there anything else you'd like to add?
AOVdB: CTN is a very fulfilling experience. I am so happy I have had the chance at CTN the past two years, and I fully intend to continue in the future.
CTNX: It was a pleasure talking with you Adina!
