CTN Spotlight on ... Michelle!
CTNX: Hello Michelle, it's a pleasure to speak with you! Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
MYL: Hi, my name is Youngsil who's studying 3D Animation in San Francisco. I am from South Korea and have been to many countries such as Canada, UK, Japan, China, Hongkong, etc. I am aiming to get a Master's degree at Academy of Art University and have been working on 3D animated short film as my thesis.
CTNX: When and how did your relationship with CTN begin?
MYL: Since I started my study in San Francisco, many of my instructors and friends talked about CTN and I really wanted to participate in it so that I could meet a lot of talented people and show my works as well. And I thought this is the time to join CTN and work with others.
CTNX: What have your positions been with CTNX and what have you learned most from your experience working with CTN?
MYL: I am afraid whether I understand this question well since it is my first time to work with CTN, however, I believe I can learn how to work with the professionals in the field and how to cooperate the work so that we can grow together. Plus, as supporting & helping the artists and studios, I am sure I could get to know the working culture and the environment.
CTNX: What are your ultimate career goals?
MYL: I would like to build my career as an animator and a director that is why I came here to study animation. To achieve my goal, I have been learning a lot including all the pipelines and production, and working on projects so that I could have experience of the industry.
CTNX: How does working with CTN help you meet those goals?
MYL: I believe that I could see how the professionals work on their projects directly and how other studios work differently so that I could get to know variety of works and which style I would prefer while working with CTN. Furthermore, I am sure that I can learn how to manage schedule and give instructions & directions to others. Most importantly, I could get a strong leadership as working with CTN. I believe these are really important when I work in the industry.
CTNX: What have you learned most from your experience working with CTN?
MYL: Communication and cooperation. I think these are really important for not only our careers but also our lives.
CTNX: What do you look forward to most in the coming years regarding your career?
MYL: I am looking forward to finishing my short film as well as another project I am working with others first and then getting a job as an animator after my graduation.
