CTN Spotlight on ... Christina!
CTNX: Hello Christina, it's a pleasure to speak with you! Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
CD: I'm Christina Dalmas and I'm an animation student at GCC, studying storyboard, character design, and 2D animation. I live in La Crescenta in a family of artists of all kinds. I draw my characters in a western cartoon style and I love western animation so much that my classmates call me Western Chris.
CTNX: When and how did your relationship with CTN begin?
CD: I went to CTNX all 3 days in 2013 via an opportunity to go gifted by an after school program animation teacher at Burbank High. In terms of getting to know and work with the staff, I volunteered for a CTN animation event at my college in May of this year. Through this I got to work with and get to know John Park.
CTNX: What have your positions been with CTNX and what have you learned most from your experience working with CTN?
CD: I was a volunteer at the GCC CTN animation event. I worked in set up and take down, ushering crowds, and watching the table of a featured artist's sketchbooks. From this I learned that those who make the greatest impact are the one who are always ready to take on another task once one is finished, and those who stay to help till the very end.
CTNX: What are your ultimate career goals?
CD: To be a rotating character designer and board artist on cartoons and animated movies, and at some point, an art director for a few productions and an original show creator.
CTNX: How does working with CTN help you meet those goals?
CD: Experience gained via volunteering and gaining connections and mentors via the talent and staff.
CTNX: What do you look forward to most in the coming years regarding your career?
CD: Working with my friends on meaningful projects that bring us joy when we come to work everyday and having a positive impact on an audience just as cartoons before had done for me.
CTNX: It was a pleasure to talk with you Christina!
