CTN Spotlight on ... Emilio!
CTNX: Hello Emilio, it's a pleasure to speak with you! Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
EC: My name is Emilio Cordova and I am from a small town in Northern California, its called Galt.
CTNX: When and how did your relationship with CTN begin?
EC: I learned about the CTN expo while I was in college at the Art Institute of California - San Francisco. After I graduated In 2012, I decided to volunteer that summer with the expo to meet new people and learn more about the animation industry in the burbank and LA area. Also, I wanted to try pitching my story ideas to see what people thought of them.
CTNX: What have your positions been with CTNX and what have you learned most from your experience working with CTN?
EC: I was able to help out with escorting talent to and from the vip area. I was also working as a general floor person answering questions. I learned a lot from working with fellow artists as a volunteer, it was nice to be around so many awesome talented people.
CTNX: What are your ultimate career goals?
EC: I want to create an animated series from a graphic novel original story of mine and card game that tie into each other. From the success of that I would like to start my own animation company and begin to hire animators and produce animated feature films and shorts to compete in film festivals and for television.
CTNX: How does working with CTN help you meet those goals?
EC: I think working with CTNX is a valuable privilege and I am thankful for being a part of the year I attended. I gained very valuable insight and more awareness of the animation industry while being involved with the volunteer program. I would recommend volunteering to anyone who is a go-getter and wants to be surrounded by experienced animation and story art professionals.
CTNX: What have you learned most from your experience working with CTN?
EC: I was able to talk with an amazing Disney artist named John Huikku, about my story and he gave me a lot of great insights and advise to continue further with my idea. Talking to someone about my idea was one of the main reasons I decided to attend CTNX.
CTNX: What do you look forward to most in the coming years regarding your career?
EC: I look forward to finally revealing and distributing my graphic novel story "The Spirit, A story by Emilio Cordova. I will be opening a Patreon.com account for donations to fully fund and complete my graphic novel project for volume 1. distribution. I have a lot of goals and I know that getting where you want to be is a process and takes time. I am taking the steps to achieve the goals that I have set for myself. All I can do now is make sure what I am creating is something I would love and something made well.
