CTN Spotlight on ... Rebecca!
CTNX: Hello Rebecca, it's a pleasure to speak with you! Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
RG: My name is Rebecca and I'm an aspiring creature and character designer! I have always loved animals, stories, video games, and nature and these things inform my art. I have recently graduated from California State University, Fullerton and am excited to see what the future holds for me!
CTNX: When and how did your relationship with CTN begin?
RG: My friends and I heard about CTN through the Pencil Mileage Club at CSUF. As sophomores we decided to go to CTN 1 day, then next year did CTN the full 3 days, and 3 days again last year with me as a 3-day volunteer! I love the convention because of the opportunities it gives to students and artists to connect with one another, hear amazing advice, and stay abreast of all new resources. I met so many amazing artists while volunteering at the convention. I'm definitely looking forward to returning to CTN this year!
CTNX: What have your positions been with CTNX and what have you learned most from your experience working with CTN?
RG: Last year I was a booksigning volunteer, meaning that I helped to escort artists to the booksigning table, kept watch over their table and belongings, opened communication between the artists and the guests, oversaw transactions, and enforced the schedule. I was able to connect with so many successful and kind artists this way and even received advice on my own artwork!
CTNX: What are your ultimate career goals?
RG: I believe that goals can change so I'm open to many different possibilities! However, at the moment my ultimate goal is to become a creature designer helping to create compelling experiences and stories that push the limits of creativity!
CTNX: How does working with CTN help you meet those goals?
RG: Working with CTN puts me in a unique position to connect with professionals in the industry, allowing me to make new friends and potentially join teams that bring me closer to my ultimate goal. Meeting other artists is amazing in itself, but you never know who might help you to find the next opportunity!
CTNX: What have you learned most from your experience working with CTN?
RG: I learned that though the ultimate goal is to have a successful career in the industry, it is never too early to have fun and meet other artists who are on the same path. Work towards your goals, but always be enjoying the present moment and the journey you are on!
CTNX: What do you look forward to most in the coming years regarding your career?
RG: I am looking forward to creating new worlds, building my library of skills, and going on many adventures!
CTNX: It was a pleasure to talk with you Rebecca!
